I tried to use this slogan to provoke greater love and pride towards Milan. This city has undoubtedly got problems and criticalities (such as pollution, traffic, intolerable writings on public walls, lack of green space, etc…), but I think that trying to solve them with determination must not have us forget to promote our city\u2019s excellencies:<\/p>\n
\n- DESIGN
\nIt spreads around the world the image of a city keen on style and on the improvement of the environment we live in; represents a strategic value in a market that rewards identity and appeal to the detriment of standardisation; celebrates its success in two major appointment of international significance (the \u201cSalone del Mobile\u201d and the \u201cCompasso d\u2019Oro\u201d) and thanks to a museum facility entirely devoted to it (the \u201cTriennale\u201d).<\/li>\n - FASHION
\nIt represents the second industry in our Country, with its 800.000 operators and a conspicuous surplus in the commercial balance of payments; It is a leading sector of Milanese economy, with regard both to employment and economic income in several sectors (tourism, transport, commerce and services; It creates an important link between Milan and the related sector associations, such as Camera Nazionale della Moda, Associazione Tessile Italiana, Sistema Moda Italia, ANCI, AIMPES, etc; It promotes young people through different schools and events (e.g. \u201cMilano studia la moda\u201d).<\/li>\n - EXHIBITION
\nIt is the major European exhibition centre as far as extension is concerned. Its first class size, innovative technological equipment, and Massimiliano Fuksas\u2019 flexible design make it aesthetically captivating and structurally efficient.<\/li>\n - AIRPORT AND TRANSPORT
\nBecause of its historical position in the centre of European flows, Milan benefits by an efficient airport network composed of an international hub in Malpensa, a city airport in Linate and the Bergamo-Orio al Serio airport, mainly used by low-cost airlines, tour-operators and charter flights.
\nThe traffic is favoured by orbital roads serving the whole city and from which several motorways link Milan to other cities (A4 to Turin or Venice, A7 to Genoa, A1 to Bologna-Rome, A9 to Como, and A8 to Varese).
\nAn efficient railway network revolving around Stazione Centrale and Cadorna, both depending on Ferrovie Nord, allows commuting and last minutes travels, while caring for environmental impact issues.<\/li>\n - UNIVERSITY AND RESEARCH
\nUniversities are reference points for the whole Italian education sector. They represent tradition, thanks to the historical faculties, but they also look into the future and are focused on innovation with the purpose of creating new professions. Milan is also the Italian capital of scientific research, both on a public and a private level, with a significant concentration of research centres and is a leader in patenting<\/li>\n - MUSEUMS AND EXHIBITIONS
\nMilan is one of Europe\u2019s most important exhibition centre, thanks to its space availability (more than five thousand square metres) and to the cultural quality of the events. The two most important financial publishing groups can also be found in Milan, as well as the press specialised in fashion, design and tourism. \nIn the city several International events take place, such as the Giro d\u2019Italia, the Stramilano, the Marathon, the Grand Prix IAAF Atletica Leggera, a leg of the Beach Volleyball World Tour and the Formula 1 Italian Grand Prix in the near Monza. Milano also houses the most prestigious football, volleyball and basketball teams.<\/li>\n - ECONOMY AND FINANCE
\nMilan represents the economic and financial engine of the Country. The Stock Exchange and the main Italian banks are located in the city and companies (especially in the tertiary sector) are considerably increasing.<\/li>\n - ENTERTAINMENT
\nThe most vibrant areas are the city centre and the Brera and Navigli districts. The latter offers a number of pubs along the banks of the canals. The Isola-Garibaldi district, in north-west Milan, has recently seen the birth of various alternative spaces which attract fashion, design and entertainment. A prestigious duo involving stylish clubs and famous brands has been fashionable for quite some time (Just Cavalli, Armani Priv\u00e8, Marino alla Scala-Trussardi, Bulgari, Gucci Caff\u00e8, Dolce e Gabbana-Martini). Milanese discotheques and happy hours are the trendiest in Europe. The restaurant industry is also a thriving sector. 80 movie theatres sell 7 million tickets in almost 29 thousand shows a year.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>
